In polo, horses are the real heroes. They are called ponies, even though they are full-sized horses. Polo ponies are specially trained for speed, agility, and control.
A good polo pony can turn quickly, run fast, and stay calm under pressure. Most players have more than one pony and switch them during the game to keep the horses fresh and strong.
