The history of polo goes back more than 2,000 years. It is believed to have started in Persia (modern-day Iran) as a training game for cavalry soldiers. From there, it spread to other regions such as India, China, and later to Europe.
British officers in India made polo popular worldwide in the 19th century. Today, polo is played in many countries including Argentina, the UK, the USA, and Pakistan.
